Every fishing rod and reel combination is different, so we can't guarantee that every reel will clear the side of every boat without the correct setup.
Ultimate Rod Racks are available with 100mm or 150mm rod centres, depending on the model. These spacings have been carefully engineered to provide the best balance between reel clearance, rod capacity and overall rack length. Increasing the spacing further would make the rack significantly longer and less practical for use in most boats.
It's also worth remembering that not all rod butts and reel seats are the same length. Unless you're carrying several identical rod and reel combinations, the reels naturally sit at different heights and positions, which greatly reduces the chance of them contacting each other or the side of the boat.
If you're carrying larger reels, you can also leave an empty space between outfits to provide additional clearance where required.
For maximum protection and stability, we recommend our Rod Protection & Stabilisation Systemsā¢, including the DeckLine⢠Lock Insert, Adaptive Base Protector and Game Wedge Stabiliser, which help minimise movement and improve rod positioning during transport.
If you're unsure which rod rack or spacing is best for your fishing setup, simply let us know what rods and reels you use, and we'll recommend the most suitable configuration.
